Hi I have an older IPad (about 5 years old). My app stopped working on it last Thursday. Barclays say this is because my IPad does not have a big enough processor and if I want to use the app I will need a more modern device. Anyone else suffered this?

Depends what version the app is for, no idea what version of the operating is on the iPad.

Can find this out by the settings then "About iPad".


In the Information section here is your ipad listed ?

As apps are updated they are not going to be compatible with old operating systems whether it be IOS or Android or whatever.

Unless your ipad is able to update to a newer version of IOS then you are stuck.

The Barclays app needs ios 9.3 or above. The older ipads are limited to ios 9.3.5. which is good enough.

If your software is as updated as it can be (ios 9.3.5) the app should work, albeit sluggishly on an old iPad.

Try uninstalling and re-installing the app.

As above: update your device and see if it meets the requirements.


If all else fails you can still use the device to access Online Banking through your web browser, which isn't as neatly laid out but has almost all the same functions.

I am on IOS 10.3.3 and have tried to reload the app but it will not install. The information on Barclays web site which states the app will work on IOS 9.3 and above is not correct. I take the point about using the website but who wants to carry their pin sentry with them.
Not great customer service from Barclays and very disappointing
