Where to find my PCN number?

Sorry if this is a really stupid question, as i have searched it online and cannot find anything, but i just recieved my first ever Parking charge from tesco carpark asking for £70 as i didn't validate payment within 30 minutes, but the letter does not have a PCN number anywhere, and i need it to appeal.

So where would i find this number?

    Who is the letter from?

We all know that they will fold when they see the template appeal from the NEWBIES thread. JUST DO NOT TICK THAT YOU WERE THE DRIVER!

Highview PCNs have the PCN ref number on the letter, it's not hidden.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • There is a ref number in the top corner but when i enter this in the PCN number box it's invalid, google also says that PCN numbers have 2 letters at the start and this is just 13 numbers

Sometimes Tesco send a 'warning' letter which isn't an actual PCN and wouldn't have a PCN number on it. Just wanted to bottom that possibility first.

Is the HV letter headed 'CHARGE NOTICE' with a couple of photos of your car on it? Normally the reference number is immediately below the Date of Issue box.

Check out other HV Charge Notice letters on Google Images.

That will be the number. There's no such thing as a standard format for private parking charge reference numbers.

Is this when you go to their 'Pay My PCN' portal to check the current status of the charge?

  • Yes unfortunately it is the charge letter with photos of my car asking for payment. On the back it tells me to visit appealpcn website and when i enter the charge ref number into the ''PCN Number'' box it tells me that there is no record found
  • Nevermind please ignore that, the problem was i was putting a space in between my car reg number, boy do i feel stupid lol.

Could you direct me to where i could find an appeal template? not the best at navigating this site. cheers for your help by the way

The NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #1 , it's ready-written and in blue text font colour.

The quicker you find it, the quicker HV will cancel. Record time known to us, less than two hours.
