That’s one of the issues I had when tracking the supermarket spending - id do it later.
Story short, later became 3 months worth of receipts that I had to go through one by one on my break time at work because at home I always had ‘something else’ to do. It’s a habit I would need to adopt so that it never actually felt like a chore.0 -
I was looking on YouTube at various software titles that do this kind of thing.
I thought you had to manually enter your balances on any date you're entering info for. I didn't actually realise the program (was just looking at a Quicken video) logs in to your bank account.
Not sure how i feel about that. Am i overreacting? Are you guys perfectly happy with these software titles logging in to all your bank accounts?
Also does MS Money offer this too, or not any more now that it's not supported?0 -
I use MS Money, couldn't live without it to be honest, but I do not operate (spend) as you appear to. Our main account is there to pay all the regular bills (utilities, insurance, savings, mortgage, investments etc) and we do not tend to expose (use) this account for other ad-hoc spending transactions. So, rarely do I ever need to manually enter information in to MS Money.
The majority of our spending goes on credit cards (paid off each month), and this does need adjusting before entry in MS Money. I periodically export the data from the CC account and analyse the spending using this data (usually in Excel).Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

What problems do you run in to with MS Money as it's unsupported?
I read of people having trouble with UK currency and Windows 10. Not sure if that's a common theme.
I was looking at potential software and many seem to be subscription based. If it was a 1 time purchase i may have a think about paying it but i'm not a fan of yearly subscriptions for any piece of software, not just money managing.0 -
This thread has been going for three weeks now. Why haven't you just downloaded MS Money and tried it for yourself? That's the only way you will be able to determine whether it will do the specific budget data-processing that you require.
I can only say from my experience is that MS Money performs well for most budgeting tasks...
Edit: Just to add that MS Money 2005 (that I own) does not work with Windows 10 as it needs IE6. The Sunset Money currently downloadable direct from Microsoft UK, will work with Windows 2010, and as far as I am aware, has no problems with GBP currency...I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

The 2005 version of Money I am using Money2005-UK-QFE2 does work with Windows 10 and does not need IE6.
cloud_dog's post on 13 September offered a link to a copy of it if anyone was interested.0 -

Just to confirm, I have been running it under W10 without issue. I think there may have been a conflict at one point in the early life of W10 but the work around was to enable 'manual back-up on exit' of MS Money and then cancel the back-up (or not depending on if you actually wanted to back-up)Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

I will often ask questions on various types of forums and not actually get round to the actual task for days/weeks/months. I always get round to it, but it's just when. Even asking questions can take time as it's whenever i remember a topic to ask about. This one for example about money management software, i've been thinking of looking at it for months & months really but only 3 weeks ago finally remembered to getting round to asking about it.
I could download and install right now (i've already done the download part btw), you're absolutely correct. What i can't be certain of is giving enough time to actually dedicate to understanding the software well enough to give it a thumbs up or down. To keep with it or look elsewhere. Once i've finished work, i've come home and done everything that needs doing i can have perhaps 30mins left before bed some days. Usually it's about 1:30hrs tops. Having been up since 5am each day i feel physically & mentally tired which is why i leave 99% of my daily jobs that require concentrating to the weekend - hence my weekends are very busy as most weeks i only get Sunday off.
So things like this are left to actual weeks booked off work where i can relax, be awake & take in what i'm actually doing.
I don't volunteer that information because we all have a busy life. That's just how i choose to conduct mine & since you asked - that's why i'm telling you.PM me if any one wants the link to download MS Money 2005.
Does your version download info from each bank account you connect it to or is that part of the "no support" limitations - and you have to enter everything manually?0 -
