Money Management Software.

I currently run our finances with Excel. It does an ok job but i'm wondering if something would improve it, make things more efficient. I don't manage investments with Excel but i do do savings and current accounts.
Someone mentioned something in one of my threads recently about MS Money. I had a look and apparently this went out of action a good number of years ago but it seems everyone rates it, so i guess they all acquired a copy before it ceased.
No doubt MS Money isn't the only one on the market. I had a Google and saw others mentioned.
I'm just wondering:
- Which one(s) do you recommend? And if MS Money then how do you get a copy?
- What can you actually DO with it? What does the software actually allow you to do? I'm looking for more information than "manage my money", what specifically does it allow you to do?
- Does it benefit over a spreadsheet?
- I imagine many programs are geared towards dollar$ but does your program account for pounds also?
- I understand a screenshot may reveal too much personal info so fair enough if you don't want to post one but if possible then go ahead, to show what it can do.
I don't want to be closed minded so i'm curious about switching from spreadsheets to a money managing program in case it actually helps make things easier for me.

You can download MS Money from Microsoft.

I still have an original copy of it on CD from 10-15 years ago. For my monthly budget and management of current and savings accounts, I use YNAB Classic.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

I still use Microsoft money and have been for years - even though its
no longer supported.
It's the only thing that cuts it for me.
I do use Excel for short term budgeting (such as holidays & Xmas).Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £30,358.130 -
Out of curiosity, could anyone recommend any money management/budgeting software for someone who is paid weekly?0

Monthly income = Weekly income / 7 x 365 / 12I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Thank you for the advice.
The only other problems I can see is that i work between 40 and 50 hours each week, so every week is different, and as you know yourself, being paid weekly means that some months you get paid 5 times and some 40 -

What is it about it that makes it so good (for you) where others just aren't ticking your boxes?
That's sort of part 2 to the question i asked.
Part 1: what you recommend
Part 2: why? What makes it so good, what can you do with it?0 -

the link posted it the latest, and last, version.
Latest isn't always best, and it depends on your opinion of 'best'. For example, i'm not running the latest version of iTunes for a specific reason - the latest version is not the best for what i want to do.
Why not just download and install a copy and see for yourself whether it is worth it for you?
This is a discussion board. I'd like to discuss with people, especially those who've tried different programs.0 -
Looking at YouTube videos just now of differing programs, do you have to enter in every single spend you make?
If so then this certainly wont work for me. I'd be looking to tally something like the balances at the end of each month of each account. If i have to keep track of every single spend then it'll never work. Jeez, i would spend so much time having to input all these different spends. Online spends, town spends.0 -

You dont have to if you dont want to. It just offers that functionality. Use it how you see fit for your own needs.0
