Thank you very much Alice for such a detailed reply.
Actually I had already recommended that he went to see CAB and he has been to see them. Ironically it was CAB that wanted to know the date of pension lump sum etc. Thats why he needs to get in touch with DWP. He is due for another meeting with CAB this week.
I have already assisted my friend in getting access to his UC account online. My friend isnt very used to internet/email yet and only has his mobile which can be limiting.
He now has his UC login info which he can give to CAB so they can go through his journal and the statements etc.
I dont have all the info and my friend doesnt have it to hand either. Trying to get him organised is liking dragging horses to water. Not helped by the stress of it all.
Thanks for the all pointers. Will come back if I need any further assistance.
Thanks to you all for replying.

Can't he get the pension information directly from the pension provider, rather than going through DWP?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
ESA number is 0800 169 0310. (As previously advised earlier in the thread)

How old is the friend?Several months ago he became legible to receive his pension and also draw a lump sum.Ironically it was CAB that wanted to know the date of pension lump sum etc. Thats why he needs to get in touch with DWP
You are not referring to state pension but to an occupational/personal pension?
Surely your friend's bank statements would show the receipt of the lump sum/monthly pension payments?0
