Window Sill repair and decorating

Hi all,
I am attempting to strip back the layers of plastic paint etc to the original stone window sills so they can be repainted.
Can anyone advise what type of stone this is and what would be the best way of filling smaller holes and cracks, and also rebuilding a larger section where the underside has broken off? The stone here had become sandy/powdery. (2nd photo) What would be the best breathable paint to use?
I've also hacked off some harder but failing material which tapered off from about 0.5cm under the window frame to thin towards the edge which would have helped slope water off the sill. There was some sort of caulking behind this between the sill and the window frame. (3rd photo) Should the caulking and slope-off be replaced with something?
Would Polyfilla External be suitable for filling the holes?
(would not let me add link to photos)
Any advice greatly appreciated!
Matt

Something like this maybe:

I can't see a drip groove in what's left of the underside, which is probably why it has crumbled so much. Try and form a drip groove or overhang when you carry out the repair.0 -
Thanks Tom for reposting the photos! That filler looks like a good product I will investigate further for the filling aspect.0
