Another green day in Lincolnshire :) :) :)

  • Yes, not sure of the physics of weight increasing over time, but it does seem to! Very sensible to combine exercise with practical activities.

For additional exercise I also have a new allotment and upper body exercise with a mattock. Tomorrow is football training, and that has no practical component at all. :-)
  • I would love to be even greener than I am in Lincolnshire but East Lindsey District Council's policy of only 1 recycling waste collection per fortnight doesn't exactly help.

When I live in West Wales, it was every week with a non recyclable collection every fortnight.

I estimate about 80% of my waste is either composted or recyclable but with a fortnightly recyclable collection, it simply encourages people to put recyclable waste into the black bin when the grey bin is full :(

Don't worry, based on what happens in the rest of the country, and indeed in some other countries, the situation of only having two bins is not something that will last! (Currently have four here, each one a full wheelie-bin size, and two of the four are collected every week on a rotating basis... eventually it may grow further)
7.25 kWp PV system (4.1kW WSW & 3.15kW ENE), Solis inverter, myenergi eddi & harvi for energy diversion to immersion heater. myenergi hub for Virtual Power Plant demand-side response trial.

That wouldn't bother me that much, we used to have loads of different bins when I lived in Germany.
  • Every two weeks is fine for my recycling bin; occasionally I don't even bother putting it out. It's the triple wrapped chicken carcases in the general bin for nearly two weeks that cause grief, particularly in summer.

Had some friends over from Italy two weeks ago from the town where I once lived: there pretty well all plastics can be recycled and they were slightly surprised as I kept telling them to put things in the general waste bin because ours only take bottles. If anybody wants to practise their Italian this is a very useful list! http://http://www.quendoz.it/informazioni/approfondimenti/cambiamenti-raccolta-rifiuti-in-valle-d-aosta.html

There's quite a few items there I had to guess at!

That wouldn't be a problem here, they would go in the brown bin, which gets collected weekly and does not go to landfill.

Your council will eventually sort this out, feel free to put pressure on them as I'm sure they will appreciate it!

  • What really bugs us with bins is that each authority/council/county etc uses different colour bins,
When visiting relatives or them visiting us stuff gets muddled as there are so many combinations of what goes in what bin according to council.
We survive here in Lincs with a fortnightly recycling bin, its the normal waste that is a problem when the grandkids stay with all their waste nappies etc.
Cambs area actually sends out bags for nappy waste.
Here in Lincs with our micro climate it hardly rains and the solar panels produce well.
It costs nothing to gaze out to sea or people watch.
