Starting my journey

  • I took a day to really think long and hard on what i wanted. I didn't speak to work - it's not really their problem so no point me pouring out everything and coming across as woe is me.

Have decided against traveling, its way way too expensive. Have informed the doctor that right now i'm not in a situation to travel so they will just have to wait till I am comfortable/stable enough to do so.

Yesterday I got home and unfroze dinner, watched a movie on netflix (friend kindly lets me use her account :T) and then read a book till I fell asleep.

I'm not a morning person but nowadays I wake up by 6:30am and potter around the house, clean a few things or sorting out my cupboard, ,making a list of things i'm running out. Heck i've even started feeling that washing up dishes is therapeutic. I go into another zone just washing up lol.

Today i have a meeting with a client for dinner in the evening, company is picking up the tab so quite a treat for me as we're going to a really nice restaurant :T.

It is a bit far from my home and I get awful motion sickness in cars so need to nip into boots later today to get motion sickness pills. They don't always seem to work though :(. Anyone have suggestions for motion sickness?

Just having a coffee and my breakfast now - toast and marmalade yummy.

Hope everyone has a good day ahead xx
  • Got paid yesterday and oh boy it all went for a toss. I’d been paid short by almost £100!

So contact payroll and they explain that I’ve actually been getting small tax refunds from May - August and the salary I’ve been paid for September is my normal salary.

It’s like the floor went out from under me, all my well laid out excel sheets have to be reworked. This means I’m poorer by £100

Goes to show though, I’ve been paying attention to every penny in and out of my accounts and that’s the only reason I noticed it!

Sat down last night and reworked all my spreadsheets till well past 1am. After all payments I’m now going to have a super duper tight budget and will be left with a grand total of.....£0.19 at the end of the month!

First payment for the debt went out by DD, this now brings my total outstanding debt to....
    £9935.86

Finally under the 10K mark so well on my way on the road to freedom :T

  • Thank you darrannah, it has been difficult and stressful. I'm glad mum's ok and home. Just taking it one step at a time.

It's been freezing today. So glad i'm in the office with the heating on. Dreading going home in the evening - my house is forever freezing cold. Takes ages for the heating to heat up the house as it's an open plan with not many doors! Going to see how my new boiler works out and if it's any better this winter. Have never used a thermostat before and the new boiler came with it.

Going to be an NSD today, colleague made lunch and friend dropped off food last night so going to have that tonight.

This weekend i'm planning to do a deep clean of the house, everything is going to be vacuumed, washed and laundered. Should keep me busy :rotfl:

Just discovered Peaky Blinders and getting started on the first season tonight. Heard it's really good!

Most bills except Mobile and Council tax have now been paid so i'm well happy. These two bills will come out the 15th and 16th this month and i'm done with everything for bills this month.

Have been reading about the envelope system and going to start withdrawing £30 in cash for groceries a week and seeing how far I can stretch it - not had to buy anything as yet so in pocket! Though got to keep in mind this month has 5 weeks.

Have a lovely day ahead everyone!

Hugs - it sounds like you are having a tough time. You are being really honourable in looking after your mum. I would reach out in real life to some people - they are usually kinder than you expect. I got counselling through my work for free for example when I needed it and it helped me... Just having someone to touch base with on things also helps alleviate that sense of being one against the world... There will be people willing to stand in your corner if you reach out...

  • It has been a traumatic few weeks. My mum passed away this morning from heart complications and i've been crying my eyes out all day. Now i just feel numb.

Have arranged to borrow more money. Taken two weeks off work so i can fly down this weekend and start arranging for her funeral.

Can hardly breathe - i wasn't there with her in the end and it's killing me inside. She was the most beautiful, gentle and innocent soul and i'm going to be totally lost without her. How does one even cope with this - just feel like one giant ball of pain. So many things to arrange, informing the family, arranging the funeral, getting the house packed up, bank accounts, utilities, the list seems endless.

I wish i had siblings or someone that was there to support me - just feel totally lost. With everything that;s happened, plus this god damn debt, I need help i really really do. Its stressing me out now to the point i want to curl up and die.

If anyone's reading, light a candle for my mum and keep her in your prayers tonight.

    Much Love,

    Loaded
  • So very sorry :grouphug:

There is a board here for dealing with funerals, probate etc. I realise your Mum lived abroad but they might be able to help/advice.

Please put out food and water for the birds and hedgehogs :)
  • I woke up this morning and my first thought was calling mum up. Still feeling raw inside.

Mums brother called me up today. He has very kindly offered to fly down and help me with the funeral arrangements. Thankfully it was busy this morning at so i didn't have to think about anything else. Doing my best to stay busy and keep my mind distracted.

Hi Supermoose, thank you for the link - i'll go have a look and check if there are things i need to do that i havent thought about. I've never had to arrange a funeral before - just seems like a daunting task.

Really appreciate it and the support.
  • oh Loadedsoul, what a horrid thing to read this morning, I am so sorry for your loss, I am sending you virtual hugs. Let the debt be the last thing on your mind for the time being, you have other things that need your attention first.
    lots of love xx
