PCN but paid via Ringo- wrong location?

I have today 7th Sept received a PCN - dated 4th Sept.

It states -

Notice is hereby given to the Registered Keeper of vehicle registration mark XXXXX for the alleged contravention of Use of Private Car Park without a valid payment/permit at TOWN NAME (ANPR) on X DATE at X TIME

However, we have paid for a parking session in TOWN NAME - a little digging and possibly the RingGo app listed the wrong carpark as the closest one so maybe we have paid for the wrong one (there are a few in a small area). Except the PCN doesn't mention the car park name at all - only TOWN NAME so it is pretty hard to work out if that is the case.

I have appealed and included a copy of my receipt from the RingGo app - which states the location paid for. I think they may well come back and say I paid for the wrong car park and therefore the fine still stands. But I wondered if there was an approach to void the PCN based on the fact the PCN doesn't state exactly which car park the contravention is meant to have occurred in?

Thanks in advance

    It is not a fine.

Did you reveal the driver's identity in your appeal? I hope not.

If/when it is rejected, research PoPLA and construct an appeal using all the points available to you from post 3 of the NEWWBIES. Post your draft here for checking before you submit it.

What happened when you complained to the landowner?

Don't forget to complain to your MP about this unregulated scam.

Why aren't you telling us which parking company is pursuing you? Much depends on who they are and what their track record of pursuing motorists is.

Nothing is that easy in the totally unregulated Wild West that is the private parking skimdustry.

  • It's worth waiting for the outcome of the appeal. My partner was issued a notice after paying for parking through Ringgo. Turns out he had completed it without thinking and had paid for parking for his car, but was actually in mine that day. He immediately appealed and within a week we had the fine cancelled stating that although the fine was correctly issued, as he could prove he'd paid, it was cancelled.

Would you mind telling us more details, and possibly sending the OP a pm about your case?

It would be a huge coincidence (since we know neither) if the parking event was at the same location and/or with the same PPC.

As it stands, the above 'advice' is given against zero context.
