Credit Card Refund

I paid for the services of a building inspector on my visa credit card issued by my bank in April.

The building inspectors subsequently went insolvent in May and were unable to carry out inspections or issue a final building certificate.

I contacted my bank and requested a refund providing as much information as I could.

Now they have asked for evidence of chasing the liquidators for a refund (which I have requested), but they have not responded after 7 days.

I wondered if anyone could offer advice before I revert back to my bank advising of non-response from the liquidators.

Send them a copy of email/letter you sent. But 7 days is a bit quick for a reply from a liquidator.

TBH. All you should need for this is a copy of the insolvent letter and proof they will not be providing the service, and that should be enough.

Thank you. You are right. I will give them 28-days but send one reminder a week.

  • If this is Aedis then you should be able to get a chargeback immediately.

Trying to resolve with the liquidator seems a bit a strange idea. They aren’t going to refund you or do the inspection.

I wonder if the issuer is using an ancient rule-set. In the old days of Chargebacks of this sort, you had to try and resolve with the liquidator first. I can't remember how long you had to allow for a response but the Chargeback time limits were amended to take account of the delay, depending on whether or not you got a response from the liquidator.
