Verbal promise to repay Deposit on Kitchen

Hope you can help.
A month ago my partner and I started discussing and designing a proposed new kitchen with an established local High Street Kitchen company.
The company has a franchise on German Kitchens and they have promotions which end on particular dates. These promotions mean that you can secure a discount on your kitchen.
We had not reached the stage of receiving generated design pictures or plans when the critical date arrived for paying a £1000 deposit to "secure the discount".
In a hurried phone conversation with the owner of the company I paid the deposit by Credit Card after discussing with the owner that there was a possibility that we might change our minds if we decided to sell our home. He said he was happy to refund the £1000 if that happened and hoped we would return to buy a kitchen for our new home.
Over the next month we reviewed our position and decided to sell our home.
I went into the kitchen company and felt a bit uncomfortable with the owner when I mentioned deposit return. He said he could not refund my Credit Card and that it would have to be a bank transfer. He grabbed a scrap of paper and I gave my bank details.
I followed this up with an email that day to confirm the bank details and stating the agreement.
Two days later and there has been no reply.
Should I be concerned ? What action do you think I should take ?

What can I say:
Lesson #1 - if you are unsure about something, walk away and think it over. Trust me this comes from experience, I have learnt the hard way as you just did.
Lesson #2: you gave him your bank details on a scrap of paper?
Lesson #3: keep monitoring your bank account and give him 7 days, if no money return and remind him that 7 days have passed and you are still waiting for your money.
Lesson #4: You might not get your money back, meaning that you might have to use that money in the store.
Lesson #5: After and if you receive your money, please keep monitoring your bank account?0 -
Thanks yes definitely a few lessons learned here.
I suppose I trusted everything the owner said because the business is local, very visible and established.
Verbal assurance to repay should have been in writing.
I sent an email with bank details straight after my visit to make sure everything recorded.0 -
