  • I thought if both working then the benefit cap didn’t apply to your claim?

  • It says your not under the cap if “get Universal Credit and you and your partner earn more than £569 a month combined, after tax and National Insurance contributions”

  • That wasn't copy and paste from actual notification was it? I ask because there are spelling and grammar errors and I wouldn't expect them in an official letter.
  • Yes it’s copy and paste

Is this a message you have received on your journal?

What were your combined earnings used for your UC entitlement calculations for the assessment period from July to August?

If they were above the £569 threshold then post a notice in journal pointing that out. Should probably ring the helpline too,

If earnings for that assessment period were below the threshold that is why the cap has been applied. The fact that you are both working doesn’t guarantee that your income is above the threshold in any one assessment period if your payment dates are irregular.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

    There was a mix up

    I have to clarify

Is it possible to change reported earnings and expenses for months gone by?
