Why apply for a AMAZON credit card and not use it at AMAZON.
Clearly the idea of getting their branded card is to get points for spending at AMAZON, as well as a FREE £20.
I believe OP applied for an Aqua Card rather than the Amazon branded card.0 -
Thanks to everyone for your comments and the tremendous effort you went to in order to to debate this!
As a matter of interest, I did complain to Newday who issue the card. They accepted and paid £20 cash compensation. I suspect they will now change the wording of the terms and conditions.0 -
Though the way in which it is currently written is colloquial and succinct.
Thanks for the reply and, as you say, it is indeed colloquial.
However, I'm not so sure it makes sense to use colloquial English in a formal contract. For example, I live in Cumbria and a contract written in colloquial English here would be totally unintelligible.
We'll have to agree to differ on the point of it being succinct but I do appreciate the time and effort you took to educate me.0 -

I'm currently waiting for Halifax to say the same to me when it comes to them paying me the second part of my switch bonus this month. Their T&Cs said I had to do a variety of things within the first 6 months (which I have) and to use the debit card (which I did, just once). I'm expecting them to say I had to use the card once a month when it seemed quite clear to me that I only had to use it once within the 6 months.
I just wanted to let you know that my claim with Aqua was successful. Sadly all the communication from the card issuer was verbal so I can't provide anything to help you show a precedent concerning your own case.
I wish you success with it.0 -

Though it's more likely they did it just to get you off the phone and to "go away", so to speak0
