I'm looking for a work round what appears to be an over sensitive power protection on an iPad. I have a power bank that has the correct voltage (5.2V without load) and a capability up to 2 amps and works fine when attached to a mobile phone (I know because I have a power input monitor). When I attach it to my iPad there is a current flow of 0.04 amps and the iPad does not register its presence. If I use the same wire to attach the iPad to a mains powered USB the iPad once again shows a current flow of 0.04 amps. However if I then detach it from the mains and wait a minute then re attach it I get a current flow of 1.35 amps and the iPad indicates charging. Tried it a few times with same result. So this would indicate to me that when that power pack is used the iPad shuts its charging circuitry off and takes a minute or so to reset.
I note that there are apple certified power packs on sale.
Anyone know how to make an iPad charge using a normal (cheaper power pack)?

I've never had a problem charging my iPad using any USB power source hat delivers sufficient power. I did have a problem with a cheap lightning cable once though.0

Still using the same cable I got from a £ shop after the Apple original broke after 9 months. Apple is legendary for its poor quality cables just ask Google!0 -

I’ve had an EC Tech 22400mAh power pack from Amazon that charges iPads fine, currently using it to charge an iPad Pro.
