3 year old default

Hi looking for a bit of advice from people who are more clued up about this than me. I stupidly defaulted a credit card account 3 years ago. This was paid off immediately so my credit file is showing a settled default from September 2016. I know a default stays on your file for 6 years but the severity diminishes over time. My question is what impact will a 3 year old default have when applying for a mortgage or better rate credit cards? Other than my stupidly defaulting the CC, I've got a history of paying a 3 and 5 year loan with no missed or late payments and 3 year history paying off a higher interest credit card (capital one) in full every month. My imaginary credit score is low on Experian and good on Equifax. Thanks for your help.

Who knows?
Lenders have their own criteria for their products.
Use some eligibility checkers for credit cards and if in doubt about the mortgage use a broker.0 -
