Faulty bike after 1 ride

Hello, so I bought a £400 mountain bike from Evans cycles 14 days ago ,their was s payment mix up when their till crashed and I left with no bike and £400 down , I had to go back the next day after relentlessly phoning customer service to pick up my bike , a 20 mile journey ... I rode it once while on a trip which the bike was intended for, the gears made a horrible cracking noise so I took it back on the 20mile a day journey to be repaired and again to pick it up , I took it to a cycle route near me and rode it again , the chain kept coming off and the noise was still present ( note, I know about criss chaining etc and can assure I was in the right gears ) , further inspection showed a bent part that was causing the issue , but I’d need to be booked in to confirm this , so another 40 mile journey and I found out the mechanic hadn’t even looked st the bike, I pleaded for a return or exchange as it had only been 14 days ,they said they can’t do refunds ? which takes us to today , they let me put £170 towards a new bike from their other store which was apparently of better quality , I took it out for a ride tonight up and down hills ( keeping in mind the staff said the bike could take jumps ) which I never indulged , when the bike became hard to pedal , so I got off to inspect . While checking my bike before I took it , the mechanic has left a bolt loose and the crank was only half on and has rounded ( ruined ) a crucial part of the bike, it is unable to be rode now without the new expensive part .

What are my rights to refund after all this ?
I do not want a repair again after this ,

Original purchase was 14 days ago

If any goods are not fit for purpose, then you have 30 days to return them for a full refund. You do not have to accept a repair if you don't want to.

If you paid by credit card, then you also have rights against the credit card company under the Consumer Credit Act. They are jointly liable if the goods are faulty.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • Hello, yes bike 2 also faulty and paid debit card for £400 then cash £170:money:
  • Refund received , how long does it usually take to go back on my card? They refused to pay me £170 in cash and were adamant it had to all go on my card :money:

    Refund promised you mean. ;)

It didn't have to all go on your card ... I guess they simply preferred to have a single, traceable transaction (for Money Laundering requirements).
