in Credit cards
Hey all
Just had a letter through informing about some new online checks that are coming in soon, i do not do any online banking with my debit card, just use that in the bank cash machine, but i do shop online a bit, only with a a halifax master credit card not debit card, which i do pay off in full each month, the issue is i also pay my internet provider with my master card will i need to use a passcode to which halifax will send to my mobile or landline to authorise a payment, at the moment it automatic pays out each month? this would be a pain if so.

If it’s an automatic payment from your card (a CPA) then no you won’t need an OTP each time0

So any online shopping from the likes of amazon or others would need a passcode, i think i better need to update my phone number to use my mobile number instead of my home landline, no good if i'm on holiday and i need to purchase a wifi package and the code is sent to my home landline.0

It's not just the one-off transaction value that dictates application of SCA, but also volume or cumulative value of transactions since previous strong authentication, as per article 16 of the regulatory technical standards:born_again wrote: »
i.e. sub-€30 transactions can be required to authenticate strongly too, if they follow a sequence of others below that threshold....Payment service providers shall be allowed not to apply strong customer authentication, where the payer initiates a remote electronic payment transaction provided that the following conditions are met:
(a) the amount of the remote electronic payment transaction does not exceed EUR 30; and
(b) the cumulative amount of previous remote electronic payment transactions initiated by the payer since the last application of strong customer authentication does not exceed EUR 100; or
(c) the number of previous remote electronic payment transactions initiated by the payer since the last application of strong customer authentication does not exceed five consecutive individual remote electronic payment transactions.0
