Assessment without warning

I have been suffering from severe depression for last few months.. My work coach has put me on a work and health programme. I am on anti depressants and tried to commit suscide 3 times by over dosing.. I was sent an assenement form to send mack last month but due to my depression never managed to complete it. Only with the help of my work coach today I completed the form today and sent it. Now all of a sudden I receive a phone call from a different jobcentre in my area local area saying that my assessment is tomorrow. They have no info or me or nothing as the form was only posted today. Also with no notice or nothing... Is this normal..
Its made my anxiety worst

Perfectly normal. Quite quick but better than waiting months which can also make people anxious

But I only posted the forms back today.. Probably late due to my mental health. How can they assess me with no form or any background knowledge tomorrow?

So you mailed it, not handed it to your work coach?

Did you include any medical evidence?

I mailed it about an hr ago then 10 min later I get a phone call today saying my appointment is tomorrow at a completely different job centre. They probably don't even know any of my medical condition etc for tomorrow. Just evidence of what mecuatiin I am on and got mental health appointment with physctract at hospital in 2 weeks etc..
Just spoke to work coach.. She was surprised as well, that they called me with. I warning.. What do I do

Usually if you're late returning the work capability assessment form you'll very likely be found fit for work for failing to return.


As you're claiming for mental health reasons then this rule doesn't apply to you. As you haven't returned the forms they've gone ahead and arranged a face to face assessment, which is normal.


You could ring the health assessment providers and cancel the appointment and tell them when you posted the form. If you do this remember you can only cancel one appointment. This way they will receive your form before the next appointment. Or you can go ahead with the assessment.

I will just go ahead with it.. What shall I axpect tomorrow as they probably know nothing about me. I am not in the best of mind and its just made it worst.. Only last week I was think of overdosing again. I got public anxiety and loads of things..paranoia etc.
Shall I take my medication with me.. I also got a txt on my mobile about an appointment at mental health clinic in a couple of weeks etc

Also will I still receive my standard uc allowance this month of 317.. Without it I can't survive as I am homeless atm

Your payment will continue as normal.



Do you have any other evidence that you can take with you? Proof of medication is ok but it's not much evidence. Future appointments are not classed as evidence.

No that's pretty much it.. That's all I have got.. Only recently my gp heard about my suscide thing since then referred me to mental health which is in 2 weeks time
