The contract was formed when the OP paid the deposit. So to me it seems like a clear breach of contract, unless the written terms offer the supplier a way of backing out.
This is ultimately what it will come down to in my opinion. If the contract allows the supplier to pull out then there’s probably nothing that can be done.
However, even if it doesn’t, provide the £1,000 is returned then the op would struggle to show any loss so there would be limits to what, if anything, they could recover through legal action for breach of contract.0
