Just wondering... why do people pay extra for insurance cover? We've NEVER taken out an extended warranty and would never have been able to claim on it anyway. Sorry.. off topic...#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

Had similar experience a couple of weeks ago - trusted friend Miele packed up (after18 years), have ended up with Beko washer dryer for £350 instead of Miele at £1800. It seems to do the job.....
I would never ever buy Beko again.
Had a beko dishwasher that gave up the ghost after 13 months
Neighbour had a beko fridge freezer that lasted 14 months
Friend had a washing machine that lasted 13 monthsI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Up to now, we always had Hotpoints. It gave up the ghost a month ago, after about 10 years (but with various repairs)
We decided to spend a bit more and got a Bosch this time. Here's hoping it turns out to be value for money!! We're happy with it so far!
It's a tricky balance. What to spend vs. Brand vs. longevity?? I don't believe all 3 are necessarily linked, TBF.
If you break it down though, even over the course of 1 year, the cost per wash is small (eg. £400 / 52 weeks / 4 loads per week = £1.92), so if it only lasts 5 years, it's still good value (38p per wash)How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
