PCN notice on fully paid ticket stay

edited 5 September 2019 at 12:43AM in Parking tickets, fines & parking
I've read the newbies section several times and can't see an example the same as mine. I received a PCN through the post with the "Payment not made in accordance with terms displayed on signage". and two photos of my car entering and leaving the car park concerned. On arrival at the car park, I entered the VRN into the payment machine & purchased a ticket with coins to cover 6 hrs. I only stayed approximately 1.5hrs. I parked in a legitimate space. I do not have the ticket which came from the machine with my VRN printed on it as "proof". I didn't even consider that it would be an issue with my VRN entered into the machine. How can I successfully appeal the fine when I do not have the ticket as proof I paid, when I know I gave my VRN into their Machine? Sample responses don't seem relevant to this case. I'm miffed because I paid the correct fee and still got the PCN. Why?
Any help appreciated. Thanks Perplexed

If this is not a company car or leased or hire car, then send the blue text template appeal you will have seen in post #1 of the NEWBIES thread.

That post also tells you when to send it.

Send it unchanged - no additions or alterations needed.

    Send it as the keeper.

I suspect that for some unexplained reason the ticket machine recorded something other than the vehicle's VRN.

    Whose car park is it?

    Who is the parking company?

You don't need a specific appeal for your circumstance as the PPC won't take any notice they don't make money by allowing appeals.

You do not have a "fine" it's a speculative invoice, just follow the newbies thread as is.

We need to know the PPC.

It's not a unique situation at all.

Go through the motions systematically as per the advice so far. In addition to naming the PPC, when was the parking event? And when was the NTK received?

These are not fines, they are private invoices for the damage the PPC alleges they suffered when, allegedly, you breached a contract they allege you had agreed with them, we call them scams. They only need to be paid if a judge so directs.

As for proof, you need to prove nothing, the urden of proof rests with the claimant.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so consider complaining to your MP.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
