Bensons for Beds faulty bedframe

I have a sleepmasters bedframe (which I believe is exclusive to Bensons), the headboard has become defective through no fault of our own and is creaking badly on one side.
We noticed this issue when we got the frame but it has got progressively worse over the last few months, We purchased the frame in January.
The bedframe has a 1 year warranty but on contacting Bensons, they have said I need to get an independent report to prove the issue was there from the start. Then only if it is deemed to have been, they will refund the cost of the inspection and then proceed as they see fit.
I understand that the retailer can ask the consumer to prove the fault was there but what if I want to claim using the manufacturer warranty? Bensons are presumably the only way to deal with sleepmasters?
What are my options?

I can only see the T&C's regarding warranty that refers to Bensons and not Sleepmasters.4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.0
