Failed MOT emission test

Hello Folks As per the title today my car (Citroen Berlingo Multispace 1.6 HDI, 2009 model) failed its MOT on the emission test. Its a diesel engine. Scored 2.98 and needs to be 1.5 or less. My old diesel used to kick out black smoke when booted hard. A tank of shell v power would stop pretty much all smoke and must have cleaned stuff out as it wouldn't start smoking again for a thousand miles in standard diesel. I thought the whole premium fuel thing was bs but that changed my mind!
