British Gas -New Boiler Flexible Finance Questions
Options
Thinking of a New Boiler and I got a quote from BG, IRO £3K.
Obviously they are more expensive than the rest, but trust still means a wee bit.
After their Heating Sales Adviser visited, I noticed in their advertising material and their website they offered Flexible Finance on a new boiler.
Try as I may, and I've no wish to speak to their Heating Sales Adviser on his mobile, I can't get any infromation from BG Sales, BG Customer Serivce etc on this Plan, ie. what's the APR, over what period etc etc. They actually advised me at one point to contact GE Money (who have now ceased offering unsecured loans), their credit facilitator.
My questions are, anyone out there using their Flexible Finance Plan, if so what sort of APR etc are they charging?
On another note if they advertise finance offers, shouldn't they be giving consumers all the relevant details?

Quite a few links on here, James, and that free gas offer looks enough to pay the credit charges.

i know this is an old thread but i cannot find any info on this
not sure if i am better off getting a loan or going for this flexi thing
i have a feeling the flexi will work out expensive, anyone have any more info on it0 -
Well i phoned british gas and they couldn't give me an example of the costs. they said the only way is to have someone come round and give a quote and figures based on the quote ( more like get in your home and hard sell)
i asked for an example as i don't want to waste my time or theirs as it could be a high APR which i would obviously not go with so requested an example of the payments i.e payment over 4 years etc , what costs are involved, again they couldn't tell me
not only is there no information i can find on the internet about this nor can british gas give me prices over the phone, even rough ones0 -
The people in the call centres just book appointments, they don't have any kind of technical or pricing training. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

20.8% apr via Hitachi Capital Accelerated payment scheme, default terms are 8 years which you then overpay to bring down the interest and repayment period.0

I had a quote for a Worcester 15Ri boiler from British Gas - £3293. Twice the price of what I eventually had it installed for by a trusted local gas fitter.
Anyway, the BG chap offered finance, but at no time mentioned the APR. I asked him what it was, and he mumbled "something like 20%", then went on to say that the rules had changed and APR can't be used as a guide anymore, I had to look at the monthly rate of 1.55% which was low.
Aside from the high price, his attitude to my question about the APR made doubly sure BG weren't getting my business.
The local chap did everything that BG quoted for, including a powerflush (which BG wanted almost £600 for), and the system's working fine.
Anyway, everywhere I've looked says APR is important (as I was taught years ago) - was he being economical with the truth?
