left out of pocket after amazon purchase

My wife purchased a front and rear dashcam and hardwire kit for our campervan. We had it fitted by a local auto electrician at a cost of £120 only for them to let us know it doesn't work as it should do. It is supposed to show the rear camera view on the front camera monitor when the car is put into reverse. Although wired correctly it does not do this so they removed it so she can send it back to Amazon for a refund.
The hardwire fitting kit is still on the car as it will accept other makes of dashcam cameras. Amazon are going to refund her, however, this now leaves her out of pocket as when we decide on a new dashcam kit it will need fitting and she will have to pay labour charges of at least another £30 possibly £60 depending on how long it takes.
Are there any legal rights about being left out of pocket by faulty goods? Amazon don't want to know ("we are just a platform").
Thanks in advance.

Think your only rights are for the product itself - your choice to use a professional for the fitting.0

I don't think you have any rights here because the feature could have been tested without going to the expense of installation. It's analogous to paying someone to mount your new TV to the wall only to find that when they've done so, the model you've got doesn't have Freesat installed when the retailer's website said it did.0

Are you sure its wired correctly?
12v into the reverse signal wire would be a test.
Do you have a link to the product page?
If you are buying more dashcams then what fitting do you expect?
Wiring is in place,so its pretty much a case of stick the dashcam in place and plug in.0 -
Amazon's response suggests it was a marketplace purchase.0

thanks for all your replies. I guess we'll have to just suck it up. I didn't think we'd be able to claim off anyone but it's always best to check these things first.
Thanks again for your help
