Fit for purpose?

My father purchased an Electric Patio Cleaner 3 months ago from Coopers of Stowford(?) online catalogue . This device needs replacement blades. On trying to obtain blades Coopers have told him they are no longer stocking replacements and can’t offer any help as to where else they may be purchased.
Apart from the poor Customer Service I am left wondering if there is a Fit for Purpose issue here. Obviously if they cannot supply a part that is required to be replaced regularly then it is not useable for the 2 years expectation set out under European law or the 12 month guarantee. Or does the law not consider availability of replacement parts as required under Fit for Purpose?
My father would just like a spare blade to finish off the driveway but a full refund would be acceptable. What are his options?
TIA

Can blades be obtained from elsewhere? (obvious question but it hasnt been made clear)0

Sorry but no manufacturer details.
My father asked Coopers if any generic or other manufacturer’s blades would fit but did not get a reply.0 -
For £28 I'd probably just buy another. You won't get a full refund on such a 'cheap' item for not having spare parts. And for £28 I doubt its expected to be patio cleaning for 2 years0

It was £40 . I don't think you would spend £40 on an electrical tool and expect to only be able to use it once or twice. Would have thought 12 months or so would be reasonable.
My father would prefer to just be able to get spare brushes rather than ask for a refund which is a last resort but when Coopers won't provide spares or show where spares / alternatives are available he cannot be sure ones he has seen online will fit and risks throwing good money after bad.
The question remains, out of interest as much as anything, what is the expectation in law for suppliers of electrical goods that require spares? If there is none then fair enough - a lesson learnt.
Note: I've just seen Coopers are still flogging this (or similar) machine even though spare brushes are now no longer available from them - and it is now discounted to £28!0 -
