Scottish Power Standing charges
Am I missing something here?
Scottish Power's 1 yr fixed deal have dual fuel standing charges of 19.18p
However, for 2 year fixed these rise to 36.10p & 34.17p
So if I sign up for 2 years, I immediately start paying a substantially higher standing charge than if I went for 1 year?

Nothing missed - its SP's tariff.
Your choice - what are the unit rates.
PS It is generally thought that you should have seperate suppliers for gas and electric rather than dual fuel.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Hi Robin9
Unit charges are 3.269 & 16.04 to 3.565 & 17.23
As the S/C are "fees" for providing the service, there is no logic to such a massive hike0 -
What matters is the bottom line - a mixture of s'c and unit rates.
As I said your choice - if you don't like what SP is offering go elsewhere.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
No logic more like no set prices for standing charges .
They can be very vairiable .0 -

I've just been looking at Ebico.
They have a range of tariffs on offer. If you simply look at their range of 12 month fixed tariffs, I find one tariff (Ebico Zero Green Fixed v3) which says it has 0.00p per day standing charges for each of gas & electricity, whilst another tariff (Ebico Prime 12 Fixed v3) has daily standing charges of 47.88p per day (electricity) and 49.99p per day (gas)
So that throws your logic out of the window.0
