Opening a joint acount for wedding- Help? Which bank do we choose?!!

My fiancee and I want to open a joint account to save for our wedding in a year. We will be hopefully put quite bit in but we will be dipping in and out when we are buying bits for the wedding. There are so many accounts I do not know which way to turn. Does anyone have any suggestions? Many thanks!

No idea on which bank, but I would open a current account and a savings account both with internet access.

When you don't need the money it sits in the savings earning interest. When you know you are going to spend transfer money over the internet and use the current account debit card to pay for the goods.

We do this with our current account tied to a savings account. Current account is there for day to day spending and cash is moved from savings as and when it is required to top up the current account - transfer of cash from one account to the other is immediate and can be done on line, at cash points or over the phone.
  • Many thanks. It is something we will look into. It sounds like a good idea. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

What bank to you currently bank with? The easiest way would be to open a second account with them as the transfers between accounts would be instant.
