O/S Daily Tuesday 3 September 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast start, dry underfoot and cooler.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, my fish was baked fish with veg. Tonight will be LO's from roast with some extra veg and fresh gravy.
Yesterday work was manic - we then lost all computers, telephone lines and the ability to even photocopy documents as everything is connected via computers - this had not been restored when we closed for the day. I'm working at the other office today so not affected if they still have not got it sorted this morning, but I'm back there tomorrow - so fingers crossed - but it will be a chaotic day as customers will be returning if systems are working. We'll see how it pans out.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning chums ,bit overcast and cloudy at the moment ,but not too bad and quite mild.Last day of the school holidays today so I may take DGS Mikey out to lunch today, depends how the time goes as I have a bit of running around to do this morning banking and bill paying etc.he was pleased with his new shelf I bought him yesterday for his marvel models I will probably get him doing the outsides of DDs downstairs windows today while I do the insides for her She lives in a three storey town house so lots of windows to do.but we only do the downstairs ones inside and out ,she has a chap with a very long pole gadget to do the
others outsides and we do the insides Mikey is a good lad and will help as he knows how busy his parents are during the week.
Happy Birthday to those celebrating and <<hugs>> to those who are finding life a bit tough at the moment
Good luck with the crowns I had several done a few years ago and they are brilliant. Hope you can get a bit of respite time and have some 'me' time for yourself Gers.
I had some sad news from my friends DD last night her Dad has been diagnosed with a mix of Alzheimer's and dementia bless him.I have known her parents for almost 60 years and they are a lovely couple I do hope the meds that his Dr has prescribed will help him She is also called Jackie and her and her husband are my eldest DDs godparents. Life can be so cruel at times .I shall try to get up to see them next month as they live outside Colchester, but I don't mind as I haven't seen them for awhile ,life does tend to get in the way at times.
Right time to get the kettle on and some coffee to kick start my busy
day
Take care all, and have a good Tuesday,I am off to pub quiz tonight so fingers crossed

Good morning everyone,
Alarm went off this morning and I felt awake but was just incredibly comfy. Forced my lazy self out and went to the gym anyway. I should have my boxing class on tonight as I think it was shut for August, if not, then I'll nip back into the gym.
Yesterday I had yoga which had my usual teacher back from holiday which was great. Managed to do 'crab' for the first time since I was like 4 years old.
Plodding along at work. Plodding's not the right word, because I do genuinely enjoy it, just going through a barren spell of sales, which as a sales guy, is no use to anyone. My holiday at the end of the week is to Mijas, south Spain. My DM and SD has a time share thing there, so all I need is flights and spending money, so a very MSE holiday
Gers - All the best for today
RR - That sounds a lovely recipe actually. Let me know how it is, please.
Jackie - Good luck tonight!0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to those in need especially taff.
Long day yesterday, five locks and three bridges, my wrist is painful but we won't move now until Monday so it will get a rest.
Stroke Club today. I'll drop Steve off and the grab some milk, come home and have a shower, the water should still be warm from yesterday's trip.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all,
Hope the work problem is solved soon nmlc.
Hope you found a good spot to moor up HH
Speky 'the crab' Wow "
29 degrees RR,nice -still too hot for me though :rotfl:
Gers hope the dentist goes well.
Jackie sorry to hear about your friend.
Taff thinking of you.
Had a lovely day with DGS yesterday,he's back at school today.I'm going to pop up to see Auntie, she was out last week when I called.Afterwards I'll get out the sewing machine and crack on with altering DGD dresses.
Last night DS came upstairs from his basement bedroom and said there was a little mouse fallen down into the light well/windowsill. He wouldn't open his window in case it jumped inside :rotfl:so we had to perform a rescue in the pouring rain & dark with one of those dustpans on a stick.DH couldnt quite reach & it kept running round so DS1 was enlisted, managed to get it to the front and gently nudged it into the pan and scooped it up quick. It was then released across the road into the trees, where I hope it has a long and happy life and doesn't get caught by next door but ones cat ( often seen sat on the fence ready to leap on unsuspecting prey )
Had a lucky escape yesterday teatime,I went into the chest freezer for something and realised the sausages I'd put in weren't frozen- I'd forgotten to turn it up after I defrosted  Dug down a bit to check the other stuff and it was ok,phew!
Anyway have a good day xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Speky, enjoy your holiday.
Insomnia has raised it's head again here, a result of all the turmoil in the country which is increasing my anxiety levels no end.
Steve went to the gym last night and so far seems ok, the dizziness he gets when he overdoes hasn't come back.0 -
Back from the dentist, the new EMAX crowns are really lovely, don't look at all like crowns unlike the older porcelain ones. I'm extremely pleased with the look, no more black outline from 'old age'! :j
Did a little shopping and now settling down to some online banking.0 -
Morning all...father rallied a bit yesterday in terms of food and drink, but confusion reigns just like the advert..
Yesterday he was in a difference geographic place , asked me where I'd hidden a diamond, tried to get me to break him out of there, asked me to steal the hospital towels, told me to put away the plastic (bottles that had water in them) and shouted at me when I didn't put the bed controls on the bed...except I had, and he kept telling me to move them.
It's all very funny in retrospect but definitely not at the time. His blood pressure was good though and his colour.
We'll see what today brings.....
Thanks for continued good wishes, I am reading along but I'd be posting the same thing all the time...
Hope TA is ok, and everyone else is bearing up...Watch your wrists Hester! And hope the ankle is better Gers, happy holidays Speky...
Turnabout Tuesday...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Afternoon all
We did the breakfast club and the school run with the DGC this morning, then decided to go to Abergavenny market as Mr Fix It wanted a new long pole to do the outside of the windows. No luck with that but returned home with 2 new throws for the 'van. As we are going away 2 weeks later than normal it will probably be cooler in the evenings and I love being wrapped in cwtchy throws while watching TV. We also did a small shop in Al*is on the way home ( as ours is not re- opening til Thurs ) just to restock some items as even the DGD is now eating for Wales ( and she was always the picky one! ). It was 2 pain-au-chocolat and a cup cake this morning, yesterday it was 3 chocolate croissants  and she's as thin as a rake
Later we will reclaim the DGC from school, give them a dip in their snack box ( 'cos they're always starving ) and after their pick up, get our tea which will be hunters chicken and a jacket potato. Can't remember who had that meal yesterday but I fancied it so it's on tonight's menu.
Gers please don't blind me with those bright gnashers . Enjoy, enjoy !
taff sorry to hear about your problems with your Dad. It is so sad to see someone go downhill like that.
Right I can hear the kettle calling so I'm off for another coffee.
Take care all
