Lovell debt not in my name

Options
I keep receiving letters which I believe is debt from lovell which are not mine, I do not open these but just send them back saying 'addressee does not reside at this address' after a few months thsy still send letters. I dont want to call them to complain as I fear rhey might take my name to load the debt which obviouly isnt mine Any letters I could send to shut them up?

They can't 'load' your name with a debt that isn't yours.

Send your letter to the address given in the letters.

    That's fine.
Open the letter, quote the reference number on your letter.
    Job done.
  • Debt is tied to people, not addresses so they cannot just decide you are liable for the debt because you live at the same addresses as someone who used to live there. They are not targeting you either, they are simply sending mail to what is likely the last known address for the person who owes the debt. It's probably better to nip this in the bud now just on the off chance they start sending actual people around to your home.

As above, you need to send them a "prove it" letter quoting the detail on the letters you have received. Plenty of templates available online. Make sure you send it by some sort of tracked delivery so you have proof that it was received by them in case they try to dispute receiving your letter down the line.

It's pointless asking them to prove the debt is yours when they are not even alleging that you are the debtor.

There is nothing they can do to you. Just keep sending their letters back marked 'not at this address'

I would keep an eye on your credit file though.

Not your debt, not your problem, don’t take responsibility for it by engaging with them, fatbelly has the right approach above.
