Are you happy with your supplier - and do they require a smart meter?

Basically looking for happy customers who don't need a smart meter as part of their deal as i'm on the lookout to see who to move to from British Gas. Yes there's a search function but tariffs change.
I understand the internet is a biased place where many of us come to have a good old whinge.
I was having a look yesterday and ran in to a couple requiring smart meters. I don't want to get in to another smart meter debate so let's just accept that i wont be having one.
A lot of the names of suppliers i've never heard of before in my life so i'm weary of them. Just looking to see who doesn't have a smart meter forced on them as part of their tariff and has had no issues with their supplier and are generally happy?

The suppliers you've never heard of will be the cheapest. If you aren't willing to try them then choose the cheapest from the big six. Any comparison site will tell you which that would be for you.0

For example...
If I had gone to ‘any comparison site’ and looked at the cheapest not all that long ago, I would’ve ended up with economy energy.
I didn’t go for them because I knew how many issues my mother and others had had with them.
Hence why coming here in case I could find some helpful souls to spare a few moments & say I tried X and they were great or I went for Y and they were awful because of Z.0 -
We have recently switched from EDF to British Gas. We have been happy with both companies. We only switched as the smart meters in our new build were BG smart meters which wouldn't work with EDF.
We may not be on the cheapest deal available but we would rather stick with a bigger supplier with a proven track record given the number of problems people have with smaller suppliers.0 -

Then simply "scroll down" to the first one you would be happy with

A supplier who is good for me is Zog and also Co-op.
However those are not current contracts and results may be different today .(feb 2018 two year fixes )
I find the scroll down trick the best and use it to eliminate .
I have a choice of 6 at the low end today if i was in need of a switch .
Outfox = NO
GNE = YES
Green = New
AVRO = ??
EDF = YES
Then i look further and also use other sites .0 -

I've read all that spam at the bottom of every MSE news article on energy too!
And presumably, as MSE allow it to remain, they endorse the comments.
I do hear they both pay very good affilaite rates, so presumably MSE don't want to upset their own cash-cows. The question in my mind is, where do these suppliers get the money to handout like confetti to others?0 -

I have been with Octopus for many years hence my comment
Several people I work with are with Bulb, hence that commentYou're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0 -
Plenty of reviews on here for energy companies. However, what works for one, my not work for another.0
