Hi, early in June my Amazon account was hacked. They'd bought £100 of Xbox vouchers and my bank card was immediately debited. I've now rang amazon at least 11 times reporting the fraud and got nowhere - no further forward now than when it happened in June. I get an automated genetic email everytime saying it will take 2 days to sort and to change password etc. Am now at the end of my tether with them and cant speak to anyone in the uk, I know 100 quid isn't a huge amount but it is to me. Can anyone advise what I could do next please? Thanks

11 times to report it? Surely it only takes one call to report intially and what was the answer from the first phone call?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...1

Have you complained to your bank that this was an unauthorised transaction by Amazon? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1

Your account was not hacked, you just probably used an extremely easy password/ used the same password that you used on another service that has had a data breach.
Do a complete virus scan to be on the safe side
Change your password right away (hopefully you have already done this).
Set up 2 factor authentication. (always go out of your way to check if any service/website offers 2fa, and enable it if they do).
cotnact your bank to inform them and to get them to reverse the charges1 -
Hi. my Amazon account was hacked in Nov 2019 at 3 am. Amazon didn't want to know and they told me hackers don't need your password, which I had changed just a few weeks before the hacking. The hackers bought gift cards (which they downloaded) and dishwasher cleaner (delivered to my house - I don't have a dishwasher). £272 taken. I asked Amazon to collect the dishwasher cleaner or send me a label so I can return it. They haven't done so. My bank got me the money back by chargeback. But now Amazon has contacted my bank to dispute the chargeback and my bank says it will investigate and repay the money to Amazon! I am very stressed by all this. I am 73 years old and my only income is my state pension. Is there anything else I can do if my bank give the money back to Amazon? Should I report it to the Police?0

I'm not sure which post was first - this one or the identical one in Consumer Rights. (Posting the same thing more than once is known as spamming the forum).
Report to the Police - they'll direct you to Action Fraud.0 -
To return an item you go to Amazon, ordered items and select return.I don't know what bank you are with, but they don't sound very good. I am not sure what you can do apart from ask here or citizens advice but I can say I always purchase online with my credit card, I have had a few problems in the past, but they have always been amazing! Every time I have been refunded straight away....its Tesco. I hope you get your money back!0

Like other members our Amazon account has been hacked. We have followed all security advice and Amazon said we would be refunded. Have received partial repayment but they have closed our account even though we were told we would regain access within 2 hours of investigation. So, it’s impossible to contact them due to removal of all phone contact due to Covid. Fortunately our bank has refunded the outstanding payment but we have an Amazon Prime that we can no longer access. Our emails just receive generic replies so we are totally stuck. Dreadful customer service! Hope they start staffing the phone lines soon. If anyone knows any other way to deal with them, please advise.0

Like other members our Amazon account has been hacked.
Your password must have been guessable, or reused - someone has used it to get in to the account. Either that or your email account was used to reset the password. You should change *all* of your passwords to secure, unique passwords. Ideally, you want to use a password manager.

And that is why I use two factor authorisation. Simple?
