Covering electricity meter

Hi everyone,
We're looking at getting a new kitchen and our electricity meter is right where we'd want to put our fridge. Moving it will prove to be an expensive and awkward option so what were thinking is just putting the fridge in front of the meter which would mean we'd have to pull it out to access it. We have a smart meter so no real need to see it and the fuse box is elsewhere so don't feel there's any safety issues.
Just wanted to see if there's any rules against this?
Thanks!
