Thomas Cook are consolidating flights due to the 737 issue, there just aren't enough spare planes to hire to fill the slots. So in our area for the Canaries people have either been moved from East Mids to Manchester or Birmingham or to a different day ie Sunday to Tuesday. I suppose your unfortunate that TC don't fly out of another airport near you. TC can't help the fact that Ryanair have pulled their flight.
As for refunds they are told to say 7-10 days and normally your money is back in the bank much quicker. You'd be livid if they said 2 days and it was 10.
As for complaints when they say put it in writing they mean email. Not sure you've anything to complain about really, you've just been unfortunate.0 -

Did you mean Ryanair? Thomas Cook do not have the B737 Max jet or indeed any Boeing 737’s in the fleet.
TUI, Norwegian and Ryanair are the airlines impacted by the current Boeing 737 Max jet issues. Thomas Cook will be more focused on profitable operations over chasing market share and unprofitable route expansion.0 -

Indeed - very strange that Thomas Cook are consolidating flights due to the 737 issues, when none of their Thomas Cook Airlines in any European country have Boeing 737 aircraft, or ever have done!0 -
Thanks for the replies. Yea I was just infuriated.
The issue we had was that probably like alot of families we booked in advance to pay the holiday monthly up to December. An installment came out on the 1st of the month and so we don't really have the funds to pay £120 deposit as I don't have credit cards. That was the gripe that I was trying to explain.
The advisor told me that they would refund the full amount however they have not included the payment that came out yesterday ( it probably hasn't reached them yet ) and so I'll most likely have to ring up in a few days to get the last bit back.
The main complaint was the fact I was hung up by advisors approximately 6 times when they tried to put me on hold or transfer me and didn't ring me back , I spent hours on the phone sorting this mess out and the stress and inconvenience has not been great. We have had a rough few years and this holiday was to try and get away and get our heads showered.
Hopefully the money is in the account in a few days and we can get on with it0 -
Re the 737's. I know Thomas Cook don't have any, its the knock on effect. Those companies that do have them need replacement aircraft therefore leaving a smaller supply of spare aircraft to hire. Of course the non profitable routes are being merged its a combination of the 2 problems. Belfasttraveller have you booked with Thomas Cook by phone/email and its a Thomas cook package because if you have a local Thomas Cook shop they will help you out with your refund and a replacement holiday. Your right about your last direct debit payment that will take a little longer to get back as it was in no mans land when you asked for a refund.0
