A limited building company asked for money to do a job that the building regulator said had to be done. Which stupidly I paid. The Building reg company has confirmed this they never said this and I now have the paper work to confirm. Surely as fraud has been committed I could take legal action against him rather than the company, or will they hide behind the 'limited'
As my parents always said if you can't say anything nice (or helpful in the case) don't say anything at all.
Many thanks

Can you give the whole background please? Your post, as it is, doesn't explain how this situation came about. For instance who approached who about the work? Did they turn up claiming it needed doing or did you ask them to do it?
Lots more information needed before anyone can give a meaningful answer.0 -
The bar for committing fraud (a criminal offense where the police are involved) is fairly high and lying to a customer is not always grounds for fraud. My guess is that this is a civil matter and not fraud.
The Ltd Company issue will only likely be a factor if the damages you claim from the builder are high. We need more details as said above.0 -
No I approached the company as I wanted an extension on a house and the roof fixed. The Building co claimed that the drainage had to moved as it was to near the extension. The extension is only to DPC level although the blocks and bricks are on site. A tap which was in the down stair inside loo (now stripped out) is leaking and the internal wall has mold. The building co said the roof had been fixed when all they had done was put new plaster board up in into the apex bit (no attic as old house) I only found out after a storm..you can poke your finger in the new plaster board and see the hole in the roof that was there previously. the amount is too big for the small claims. I couldn't go onsite as I was in incapacitated at the timeSawrus0
