Payment protection cover/Life policy

Options
Hello,
I have a policy been running about 10 years, now with Aviva. It was taken out initially via an a independent Advisor.
I wanted to make some changes recently and contacted them. I noted there was an amount included for Payment protection cover. I asked Aviva about this and wishing to claim under the PPI terms but they said the rules do not apply to these types of charges/policies? The policy was to cover me for critical illness and a payout on death. However, they have referred me back to the man I took it out with. Are they correct in saying this and that it won't apply anyway?
Thanks for any help
Andrew

  • Critical illness and life policies aren't PPI.

If they are no longer policies you want, cancel them, but make sure you understand the cover you are giving up.

This is better known as "Waiver Of Premium" and it means if you are unable to work due to illness or disability, following a qualifying period your premium payments stop, but your cover continues.

PPI stands for payment protection insurance. The plan you have is not PPI. Waiver of premium is not PPI. And finally, Aviva are not liable for any complaint either.

They are correct and you appear to be misunderstanding what you have.
