Claiming IS as a carer without CA

Currently in receipt of IS as a carer and I also receive Carers allowance. The person I care for gets middle care DLA and higher mobility. On the gov.uk site it states that you can get IS as a carer with CA, or because you care for someone, suggesting you dont need to be in receipt of Carer's to get it. Essentially what I'm asking is, could I stop claiming CA and still get IS as a carer as I would still be caring for them. It would purely be so they receive SDP again to protect them from having to claim UC. Hope this makes sense.

I think that if you did this you would expose yourself to ‘deprivation of income rules’ which means that although you would no longer be getting CA your IS would not be increased because it would still be calculated as if you were receiving CA.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. You stated in a post last year that you were disabled, are you not able to claim IS on that basis?
CAB
you might still be able to claim Income Support in some cases, if either:- you can't work because you're disabled or a carer
From CAB site
f you're a carer
If you already get Carers Allowance there are no extra conditions for you to claim Income Support. Getting Income Support won’t affect your Carer’s Allowance, or any benefits claimed by the person you care for.
If you don’t claim Carers Allowance, there are extra conditions that you have to satisfy to show that you are caring. The person you care for must be getting one of the following benefits, or must have applied for one of them within the last 26 weeks and be awaiting the decision:- Attendance Allowance
- the care component of Disability Living Allowance at the middle or highest rate
- the daily living component of Personal Independence Payment
- Armed Forces Independence Payment
Getting Income Support won’t affect any benefits claimed by the person you care for.“You’re only here for a short visit.

Am I depriving myself of income if theyve asked to have their SDP reinstated and I have to forgo CA in order for them to receive it?0

According to your other thread re the person you care for the only reason you are giving up CA is to stop them from claiming UC
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6042593/moving-from-is-to-uc-with-a-power-of-attorney-help-pleaseI'm power of attorney for a friend who has autism and borderline personality disorder. Their benefit letters come to me and I receive Carers Allowance for them. They're moving closer to me, and moving local authority area so have to move to Universal credit from Income Support (they are definitely on IS and not ESA). As I receive CA, they don't get SDP, so there's no option but to claim UC. They also get higher rate PIP.
I've been told they'll need sick notes and they have to attend an appointment at the jobcentre, which they can't do. They're non-verbal with strangers, have mobility problems and severe anxiety that results in self-harm. As their POA, can I either attend the appointment on their behalf or can they not attend it? They have very little medical intervention because they agreed in 2012 that lifestyle and stress management were the most important factors and I'd like to avoid any problems.
Thank youAm I depriving myself of income if theyve asked to have their SDP reinstated and I have to forgo CA in order for them to receive it?
So if UC for this person was out of the question then you wouldn't be here asking so yes I would expect questions to follow“You’re only here for a short visit.

You are depriving yourself of CA which you are entitled to because you are caring and earning below the earning limit. I am not sure if you would be hit by this but I think you might.

Doubt any questions would be asked about the Carers stopping as you simply need to say your no longer doing 35 hours caring weekly if asked, but you are still engaged in caring for say 30 hours weekly thus still allowed income Support, simple?
Not quite as Income Support will send you a form asking for the hours done on a daily basis to decide if your regularly engaged in Caring.0
