Ulster bank refusal due to cooling off period

Hi all, we are based in ireland and opened a case last week with Ulster bank as we believe we were missold PPI. It only came to our attention when they cancelled said policy at the beginning of this year saying they were pulling out and we didn't need it. When we took out our mortgage we were told we could not get it without this policy. There is also another policy on the mortgage to cover illness and death etc. Ulster bank have told us tough luck, you had a 2 week cooling period to cancel the policy when you took it out 15 years ago. But why would we cancel a policy that they said we absolutely had to have to get our mortgage?? Should we just accept this and move on ? Thanks

Has the Irish regulator copied the British regulator in the PPI issue?Should we just accept this and move on ?
You may wish to ask on an Irish forum as this site is for the UK. Your scenario won't come under FCA regulation and the rules in Ireland are different to the UK.0 -
Hi there, yes as far as I can sss online the irish regulator has copied the British regulator but as Ppi issue is on a much smaller scale in ireland most of my searches take me back to this site0

When you complaint was rejected, did the response give you the right to some ombudsman you can refer your complaint to?0

No but she is following up the call with a letter in the post so maybe it will be mentioned there0
