Coil springs breaking on a not very old Audi A1

This is an interesting read...
I too have an A1 (7 years old) 40,000 miles.
The passenger side coil spring snapped in February this year and the AA chap said these are "common on the Audi A6" but not known them to break on the A1 models.
I have since found another piece of spring on the driveway fallen from the nearside rear. If I'm honest, I've never known springs to break on any car that I've driven including Fiat Siecento, Nissan Micra, Alfa MiTo, Alfa 159 etc so I agree with the first post. I am therefore going to launch an investigation with Audi regarding this. If anyone else who has read these posts has experienced similar issues, please note them here as this may lead to a justified recall. This doesn't seem right and definitely a safety issue.0 -
You will need a lot more than anecdotal evidence for a part whose damage that can be easily dismissed as resulting from the poor state of UK roads. Good luck though0
