Which? magazine one month trial membership

Hi everybody,
I subscribed to Which? magazine 1 month trial membership.
Even though the email I received from Which? said the one month membership payment will be 'taken on or shortly after 28 Aug 2019 and monthly thereafter' they tried to charge my monzo account £9.75 (one months membership) on 22 August 2019. Luckily my monzo account did not have £9.75 so the payment was rejected.
Anyway, I Cancelled the membership by emailing Which? CS well before the one month and received confirmation immediately. This was on 22 August. Yesterday, I noticed on monzo app that Which? has tried to charge £9.75 again!
Again, it was declined by monzo as I had less than £9.75 in that account. Lucky that I didn't because, if I had, Which? would have quite gladly pocketed the money.
Today, I've contacted monzo and asked to cancel the continuous payment authority (CPA)/recurring payment with Which? Anyone experience any underhand practices like this by the consumer champion Which? magazine. Trustpilot is replete with bad reviews about them. Seems in this case they are mostly true.

Here's a review from trustpilot:I reviewed Which in March this year. They replied below just laying out the terms of their subscription but missing the point of my review.
They also stated that the subscription is £10.75 - it's not its £12.75.
Is he mistaken?, or worse lying?
Numerous other reviews about how hard it is to cancel. What business in this day and age couldn't offer a cancellation option on their website. I saw that which? says it's in the pipeline, but will they actually ever offer it? Doubt it!0 -
All I can go is on my own experience of having taken advantage of the free (£1) Which subscription on numerous occasions (at least once a year for the past number of years), and I've never had an issue cancelling via email.
Sometimes things go wrong, there's not always a conspiracy to find.0 -
