I've been with Zog for my gas for several years now. It's a basic but apparently efficient/reliable service.

I had similar options to you. I discounted OFTM and went with Avro which was the next cheapest.
  • I'll probably switch to Avro for a 12-month fixed tariff. I was mulling over it tonight and Brexit entered my mind. Would it be worth locking in for 2 years instead, in case energy prices soar after we leave the EU? Would appreciate thoughts on this.

Hard to say, just changed energy suppliers and I'm paying about the same as last 12 months and definitely cheaper than the 24 month plans available then.

I took my mortgage out after the 2015 election, opted for a 5 year fix as didn't know what the outcome of the referendum would be, but at least any upheaval would be out of the way come to the time I renewed ... best laid plans.

It depends how much the price goes up. Take
Green Network Energy - 12 months - £50 exit fee
    - £635 a year

Green Network Energy - 24 months - £60 exit fee
    £695 a year
For the 24 month to be worth it your renewal price after 12 months needs to be more than £755. Do you suspect the prices will 15.9% or more higher in a years time than they are now?

I was on a 1 yr contract with Zog from Nov 17-18. I renewed in Nov18 for 2 years. I have had no problems with their billing/direct debits and I'm very happy with the service they provide. Think the most important point is accurate annual consumption whoever you decide to go with. For me 2 years fixed was a "no-brainer".

    Supplier Zog Energy Limited
    Tariff name Mercury 24 v21
    Tariff type Fixed
    Payment Method Monthly Direct Debit
    Unit rate 3.7116p per kWh
    Standing Charge 10.50p per day
Tariff starts on 6th November 2018
Tariff ends on 6th November 2020
Exit fees (if you cancel before the end date) £30.00
