Hi
I'm in need of a bit of advice if anyone is able to help!
My UC Payment is usually paid on the 1st of each month. But this month they have not issued a statement of payment and as the 1st Sept is a Sunday the payment is usually made a few days before. This has not happened. I have been contact with them over the last week via the online journal but no one has responded. The helpline is closed over the weekend too.
My teenage son has just been awarded pips after a long process and winning a tribunal at the end of July. He was awarded a back payment for this and today received his first proper payment. I have tried searching online to see if this will affect my UC but all I have read is that Pips does not affect UC. Does it affect UC?
I also recently put in for carers allowance but have yet to hear from them. Can this affect UC Payments? I have declared everything to the UC peeps via the journal section so they are aware of all changes in circumstances.
I am just a little worried as without this payment I cannot meet any of my bill payments for September.
:(
Any advice would be appreciated. TIA

Your son’s PIP does not, of itself, affect your UC claim at all. However if you provide 35 hours of care for him each week you can ask DWP to include the carer element in your UC award. This is worth an extra £160.20/month. You do not need to claim Carer’s Allowance to have the carer element included in your UC. However if you are awarded CA it will be deducted in full from your UC award - this will make no difference to the total amount you receive but you will get separate payments paid at a different frequency.
Note that if you have earnings you are not entitled to CA in any week in which your earnings exceed £123/week. There is no earnings limit for the carer element of UC.
As regards payment I think you will just have to ring them on Monday - anything else is speculation.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Have you checked your to-do list in case there was something waiting?0

If you claim another benefit such as Carers Allowance, this will block a statement being issued automatically. It is then up to UC to manually issue the statement, taking into account any deduction that applies.
Phone the UC helpline on Monday morning and they should be able to issue the statement. Any payment due should then be processed as a faster payment, so should be received later on Monday. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -

Is this another instance of different parts of the DWP data systems not talking to each other? UC, supposedly a largely automated process . . . .!Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -

Not really, Humans checking information will always be part of any system. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. Completely agree - but UC was originally promoted as a system that would lend itself to less human intervention thereby reducing the administrative cost.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0
