Helped needed with Canon MV550i Camcorder

Very off topic thread, but I'm hoping someone here can help.
We recently came across our old!Canon MV550i Camcorder that recorded to mini digital video cassettes. Our first issue is that the cassette loader tray (where the cassette is stored inside the camcorder) doesn't want to eject so we can't get the cassette out. Any suggestions on this front?
Once we get the tray working, we have a few old cassettes that we wanted to digitise - ie. get them off the cassettes on our computers. We use desktop Macs. Can you please point us in the right direction?

I think I've solved this issue now. New cable arrives from Amazon today, so hopefully I'll be able to extract the video today. Fingers crossed. Will let you know how it goes.0
