A real hidden gem, the four-star Budock Vean Hotel is set in 65 acres of glorious gardens and woodland high above the tranquil Helford River in south Cornwall.
Once a small religious centre, Budock Vean’s earliest recorded name was Eglos-Budock-Vean, Cornish for “Little Budock Church”. By 1538 it had become a manor house and so began its life of luxury. From 1933 it was turned into a hotel and sold to Henry S Whiteside, a Canadian who introduced Sun-Pat peanut butter to the UK. The current owners, the Barlow family, have been at the helm for 30 years.
From humble beginnings, Budock Vean now has excellent leisure facilities including a 15-metre indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, golf course, two all-weather tennis courts and Natural Health Spa. The hotel is ideal for a relaxing break as well as exploring the area’s many attractions, including the South West Coast Path, beautiful gardens and traditional waterside pubs.
