Credit Limit Query

Options
To Cut a Long story short...

Was around £200 from my Credit Limit on My Card.. Ordered Concert Tickets for my Little Sister.. which were £186.. They are sitting as unposted in my account..

I Have a Refund to be made to my account from a Company which should hopefully clear tonight but might be another day or so..

My Statement came out yesterday and i was under my credit limit but my intrest has been added to take me over my limit..

I made a payment this morning to my card which would take me back under the limit but obv that still has to clear.

So Basicly to keep it simple

I have 186 unposted
I Have made a payment this morning of £50
I have around £100 to come into my account from a refund..

I am currently sitting £50 over my limit in my account altho this includes the 186 unposted...

My question is.. I presume i'll be charged for going over my limit.. Will i be ok if my Refund or Payment clears before the tickets actually come off my card?

If they dont will it be marked on my Credit History or will i just get a charge?

  • You will be very unlucky if it shows on your credit history. CC co's only give info once a month to the CRA's and the info given depends on the account at that time. So unless they report in the next couple of days you should be fine.

If the refund comes into your account before the purchase you will be ok. If the CC has authorised the payment (as they have done) then it will sit on your account til the merchant claims the amount. Hopefully, this will be after the refund has come through, or your £50 payment will get there in time.

Worst case scenario really is you will get the £12 fee. Which card is it. Cap1 only apply the fee if you do not resolve the issue by the next statement date (in my recent experience). I would think, depending on your relationship and history of charges, that you stand a reasonable chance of getting the charge refunded on the basis it was an interest charge that took you over the limit. Although from memory I think it is within t&c's that you should account for interest being added.
