My ppi claim being fobbed off

I have several truly rip -off sub-prime mortgages I was forced into between about 1998 to 2008 all of which I have just commenced claiming PPI on. So far Ascenden & Kensington have both just replied saying they cannot trace my mortgages with them. I could only give them the address of the property and my name as I have no paperwork yet.
But surely they must be outright liars for saying they cannot trace a mortgage and perhaps they are just hoping a lot of people will just give up if they are fobbed off enough.
What do I do now; any advice anyone ?

Plus, most of their mortgages were not sold by their employees but by estate agents and mortgage brokers. So, the lenders wouldnt be liable for any complaint anyway. But surely they must be outright liars for saying they cannot trace a mortgage and perhaps they are just hoping a lot of people will just give up if they are fobbed off enough.
The data protection acts required firms to destroy data that is no longer required. The regulator recommends 6 years after closure (varies in different areas - some longer, some less)
So, not only are you accusing them of being liars, you are also accusing them of breaking the law. Is it not more likely that they are following their legal obligations and destroying unnecessary records?0 -

Only if they routinely break the law for keeping data they dont need. When the law means both that they will be fined if they keep the data, and destroying data is in their benefit because it means they are less liable to have to pay for any claims due to lack of evidence, I'd be confident they did indeed destroy the data and therefore its true they cannot trace you.
The government /EU in effect gave them licence to not only do a big shredding exercise but mandated they should. Why woudl they not take it ?
And as said, if they didn't sell it to you (did you buy it direct from them?) they are not on the hook anyway.0 -
they are NOT breaking the law by keeping information longer than six years. That's simply a fairytale.0

Basically, every firm will have their own retention periods with six years being the absolute minimum for mortgages which are generally around the ten to fifteen year mark, although some are longer.
The fact is though, if the data has been destroyed in line with a firm's documented retention policy and you have also destroyed your own personal data then there is not much point in pursuing things.
As has been said before, any insurance on these will have been sold by a broker, so another reason to be realisticI work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!0 -

I suggest you read up on the general data protection regulations. And nobody said 6 years. The regulator has a number of suggested periods for certain types of business and 6 years is the most common one.0
