Help with ppi

Options
I sent a claim form to my bank in July not knowing if I even had PPI or not and they responded the same month saying we can confirm you had it can you fill in this form asking what products I had with them and policy numbers etc but I forgot to post until I received another letter off them today.

Todays letter stated that they can confirm I was mis sold PPI, however they cannot continue with my claim as they sent a letter to me in 2014 explaining about mis sold PPI, (which I do not remember receiving and would not have reaponded to it) so now it is too late to claim. They have said due to the FCA rules which sets a time limit of three years to claim from when a customer became aware that they had cause to complain.

Could I argue against this about the fact I was not aware, and I didnt receieve a letter? Do you think maybe they are just trying to pull a fast one?

Any help with this is much appreciated :)

Thanks!

I am sure they would have a record saying they sent out a letter which has lead to them stating that to you. For them to "pull a fast one' and lie about it would lead to all sorts of huge fines and be very risky since it would only take one whistleblower to expose them.
So I'd be confident they did send the letter, maybe it didnt arrive, but since you said you would not have responded to it even if you had received it, I'm not sure what your issue is?

You may wish to read the letter again as what you have said is not logical and doesnt match the process. If a complaint is timebarred, then the actual complaint is not looked into and a decision is not made on whether it was missold or not. So, are you sure they said they confirm you were missold?

The 3&6 year rule is used by some firms and in most cases, is done correctly. If they sent the letter to the correct address then it is deemed to have been received. Santander sent some out as did MBNA. There are others.

Or do we think it may be that you are trying to pull a fast one?
    It does work both ways.

Did they have your "current" address on file in 2014? If it went to the wrong address, then you can appeal the decision.
