O/S Daily Friday 30 August 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them, hugs to those that are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy but dry start to the day, sunshine is forecast for later.

DH and DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was liver, bacon and sausage, mash and veg - lovely it was too. Tonight will be something easy and chips.

I got the bed stripped, linen washed, line dried, folded and put in the airing cupboard - I put the fresh linen on early yesterday before it got too hot, so slept in a lovely fresh bed last night. I think there may be enough to make up a wash load so I'll get that going shortly.

On to today -
I'll be heading to the SM first thing, then home and I must do the small pile of ironing and I didn't clear out the cupboard that's annoying me, so I may do that.

Keep safe and well x

    Thanks for the start nmlc.

Blowing a hoolie out there this morning with rain thrown in, lovely!

Hope your DM manages to pace herself Gers, must be so frustrating for you both.

DD and I met up with some friends last night for a meal and a chat, really enjoyed it, I even had a small refreshment on a school night, thank goodness it's Friday, can't do with late nights any more when I have to get up for work.

Anyway, I'm going for a swim before work again, I forgot how much I enjoyed it but the darker mornings make it more of a struggle.

Hugs to those in need, have a happy Friday, take care. XX

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.

I spent most of yesterday in the garden, gradually it is getting back to being a garden rather than a weedy place. Did some ironing accompanied by Beethoven which I find makes this horrid job go a bit faster.

Today I will have to do a Friday Tidy, fortunately the chaps will be out, don't have to work round anyone.

Thinking of those who are struggling at present and those caring for poorly relatives.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Its a little bit chilly here this morning but meant to warm up and be a very nice day, off to work for me and after today I only have 11 days left at work before our holiday (insert jumpy smiley here )

Ive lost 1lb this week which is not great but still a loss will keep going and hope to get to 2.5 st before my holiday.

Dinner tonight will be a chicken breast and veg for me and a baked sweet potato, OH will have a baked normal potato, with some chill left overs and salad and some ham and cheese.

Need to write a shopping list tonight and do a meal plan for next week, and tomorrow we will do the house tidy through.

Right better get on have god days all xx

    Morning all.

Yesterday was very quiet so today there's plenty to do. First on the list is a visit to the minor injuries clinic.

No shopping needed until tomorrow so I'll save my energy for a washing load.

I hope that everyone is doing well. Happy Friday.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Not sure what the weather is doing yet as the blinds are still closed but it feels a bit cooler and a lot more comfortable for me. Only woke up twice in the night so feel quite rested today.

Steve is still enjoying his week off and I am loving having him home. It's going to be very very quiet here when college starts in September as Lee will be a full time student and the girls will both be working. I am a bit apprehensive about it to be honest.

I will be chopping veg like a good'un to make a beef and vegetable lasagne for dinner tonight. I might grab Steve and ask him to help as it takes me ages as I can't stand for more than a few minutes. It will be worth it though as it is one of our favourite dinners.

PayDay today, yippee! Have paid all the bills and now have to budget for the rest of the month. I have somehow managed to mess up our tax credits so I have sorted it now but it can take up to 4 weeks to go through. I will be looking at all the cheap meals threads if it does take that long.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to and hugs for those who are struggling. Take care xx

    Morning All

Last day of my holidays the 6 weeks have flown by, it was a very relaxing holiday this year, as I did not have two house to look after.

I have a load of washing in the washer, which I will hang out when finished and another load will go in.

I have a few letters to write and a bit of housework to do. I will also pop to the Post Office later on with the letters. On route I shall take a bag of books to the charity shop and nip and get a small bit of shopping.

    Weather is Sunny here today.

We will soon be in the er months, which become brr months .

    Have a good Friday.

Morning all! Home again, home again, jiggedy jig...Got few mintes before going to docs. Will wash and throw the things on the line when I get back. Am thinking of going back tomorrow, I don't really want to be here when he's there at the moment. He is refusing medication, food and liquids.

We had one moment of levity Wednesday. My sister and cou sin were talking about Orangutan jungle school, and my auntie [ who's sometimes away with the fairies] piped up 'I don't think that's right you know, mixing them up like that' so I had to gently explain the school in question was only for the orangutans to learn how to survive in the jungle and no children were involved...
Drive back was very easy last night, got home about half ten with admonishments from sister to relax and don't worry, but saying is easier than doing...we are both strung out from worry and the travelling. I think I have it slightly easier as I don't have to worry about work too.
I don't have a bramble tooth so I had to work out a spine from my finger yesterday with a needle which forcibly reminded me, the next time I pick blackberries, wear gloves!
Hope everyone takes time for themselves for a little bit today.
    Fridy tidy!!

    Morning all,
Cool but dry here atm.Ly1a wouldn't walk any further than her usual plod around the edge of the park, shes a real stick in the mud. Sometimes I try a different direction and she refuses to budge, yet when I turned round for home she was quite happy again :D

I had some of my hm made kefir that I'd strained to make it a greek yogurt consistency, with fresh raspberries and nuts, very nice too.
I'm going out for coffee & cake this afternoon,my old neighbour is treating me as it was my birthday earlier in the week :)HH I see where you're coming from.I dont see many people during the day but if I do get together with another woman, you can't shut me up :o
I suppose I'd better do some ironing if I want to wear something decent this afternoon then, & need to put a loaf in the bm.

    Hope it's a happy day x

The weather is dry :j. The WM is on and I shall strip the bed and get the bedding washed too. The upstairs will get a good sorting and cleaning today. Mr Fix It had to report our slow internet this morning ( again  ) and it seems there is a fault outside the house somewhere. The open reach men are up the poles or down the holes nearly every day on this street, sorting out someone or other, perhaps they should buy next door to save themselves a journey :rotfl:.
Nothing much else to report today so I'll love you and leave you til tomorrow ( if we're still connected )
Take care all, healing vibes to the poorlies and hugs to those in need.
    nan xx
