PPI Mortgage 6&3 rule

Hi,
I have complained to Nationwide ref ppi on mortgage started 20 years ago but they don’t agree to looking at complaint about how PPI was sold as say it was made too late (rule '6&3').
Having had similar response via Ombudsman Adjudicator and that ppi existed on annual statement.
Does anyone have any advice if can proceed when the 6&3 time limit objection has been raised?
I only recently found all the paper work and no mention on ppi in application form/sales process but discovered a reference on annual statement prompting my complaint.

So are you saying Ombudsman agreed with time bar? If so, it's more or less game over.0

However, FOS cannot overturn a properly applied time-bar which this seems to be.

I presume you have utilised the oh so common ‘I didn’t know I had PPI argument’, however the firm have supplied sufficient evidence for FOS to reasonably conclude that should’ve been aware of PPI more than 3 years ago thus you are now considered out of time to complain.
Unfortunately for you it is not that subjective a matter and the outcome therefore will unlikely change.
If it makes you feel any better the uphold rate of Nationwide MPPI policies is sooooo low you’d have had more chance winning the lottery than having your complaint upheld0 -

I only had email response from ombudsman adjudicator who believed it is outside the time limit. Am a little unclear if that is the final decision or not.0 -

You are free to ask for an actual Ombudsman to look at this complaint.

the 3 & 6 year rule is in the FCA rulebook. Both time periods have to be satisfied for the timebar to be applied.
That is 6 years from the commencement of the plan and 3 years from being reasonably aware of an issue for which you can raise a complaint.
The FOS will not review a complaint of a correctly applied timebar. As it stands the FOS think it is being correctly applied. Why do you think it is not?0 -

The only ever reference to possibly become aware was a one liner on the annual statement (obviously this is after a year from initial application). However never mentioned ppi on app form/mortgage offer etc so wasn't expecting/looking out for ppi on this.

They never appear on the offer letter. You get a quote at the outset and another posted with the cancellation rights. The annual benefit statement in their more recent form allows them to trigger the 3 year clock.0 -
With all due respect Nationwide do disclose PPI clearly on their mortgage applications along with separate cost and usually a separate signature... whilst you may not remember from so long ago, although it is all academic really I’m afraid0
