Identityaware scam

Let me start with the obligatory "if this post doesn't belong here...."

When I was struggling with my finances I got sucked into the payday loan spiral, applying for more than I would care to admit...

as is the way, some I had to give card details so that they could validate my identity, 11p here, 6p there at some point I did not untick the subscription box and signed up for a £36/month plan that would help protect my identity,

there was a 14 day cooling off period, that I obviously forgot about until I saw the first payment come of my account, at which point I phoned to cancel, and I phoned, and I phoned. long story short they do not answer their phones, and I hung on for an hour +, so I sent an email to cancel, didn't request any money back, just wanted to cancel.

since my initial calls and numerous emails they have taken over £150 from my account. they have only stopped now as I had lost my bank card and had a new one issued.

Has anyone else had any dealings with them and have any alternative numbers. I did do a google search a few weeks ago, and found one. but lost it! me and the wife have spent 2 days looking for it on google again and cant find it!

your help would be much appreciated

Matt

You missed the cancellation period . So then its down to what the terms and conditions of the subscription are .
You will have agreed to £xx for so many months/ years .
Usual is 12 months then 30 days notice before contract renews .

    Thanks for the responses guys.

It was a monthly subscription, cancel at anytime. Which is impossible as emails and calls do not get answered.

I should have changed card details earlier but I have lots of regular card payments and didnt want to have to change details. They also didnt take a payment the month after my email. I stupidly assumed they had cancelled, and took my eye of the ball. They then took further payments which I did not notice.

While trying to find a number that worked there was a review website that had an alternative number where people actually answered, but I cant find that now.

You don't have to change card details to cancel a Continuous Payment Authority.

The card issuer must cancel a CPA when requested to do so by the card account holder.
